F.D.A.W. Fridays
Who are we? What do we do?
• We are women seeking a joyful group embodiment practice • We are all shapes, sizes, levels of ability and dance backgrounds (including no dance background) • We dance consciously without choreography • We receive gentle and empowering guidance in our exploration of movement, somatics, breathwork and energy awareness • We connect, play and experiment with dance expression in a supportive and non-judgemental community • We expand the range and capacity of our dance • We get out of our heads and come home to our bodies • We surrender, feel and heal using movement as our medicine
How is Freestyle Dance Alchemy different from ecstatic dance?
Though there are many elements of an ecstatic dance practice woven into our sessions, Freestyle Dance Alchemy has a slightly different intention. In Freestyle Dance Alchemy for Women, we will be considering various qualities of movement to expand the range and breadth of movement that we bring to our dance.
Through experimentation and alchemization, our embodied dance session becomes a playground for learning about ourselves. If we consciously examine the parallels between our embodiment in dance and in life, our Freestyle Dance Alchemy practice can influence how we are showing up to our lives outside of dance and in our capacity for connecting with others in an authentic way.
While ecstatic dance offers beautiful opportunities to feel into our bodies in community, Freestyle Dance Alchemy for Women is a dance embodiment class and a chance to be guided in intentional dance.
Embodied Dance with Natasha is like a warm, supportive hug as you explore all the emotions - celebratory or restrictive- one’s body holds from a life fully lived. Natasha skillfully & gently guides you through breath work to focused movement to freestyle dances to reflection: all done with purpose and poetry. I highly recommend! 💗

Natasha is so good at leading her FDAW classes. I feel so amazing during and after our session. I am looking forward to our next meeting and just can't get enough of it. I am so happy to have found [her].

Dancing with Natasha is such a deep pleasure. She choses THE BEST music that perfectly fits the mood and feelings that dancers are accessing. Her warm ups are fun and engaging and her beautiful voice, wonderful pacing and excellent, clear instruction style makes embodiment practice through creative movement and dance such a transformative experience. I loved feeling at home in my body through dance and can't wait for more!

The intention of FDAW is to provide an embodiment practice which encompasses free and creative dance from a felt sense of ones body. It aims to encourage joy, play, fun, connection and community in a judgement-free space" - these intentions were beautifully enacted through a wide range of exercises/activities, some group-oriented and some individual, allowing each of us the space and encouragement we needed. So nourishing and healing - we all need this!
"...if only we can get off the sofa and jiggle ourselves around there are great gains to be had, not just for our bodies but for our minds as well. And dancing in a ‘conscious’ capacity; unchoreographed, free, expressive movement, where we become present through breath and awareness, only strengthens the benefits. Dancing in groups heightens the experience as our mirror neurons kick in, responding to the movement of other people."
